The Electronic Housing Code (EHC) pilot project has used a process focus to drive change and improvement in technology (systems) and content (policies and instruments). Outcomes from the project include:
- A demonstrable, shared, eDAIS-conformant technology platform for application queries, lodgment and determination.
- Electronic lodgment and assessment workflow for exempt and complying development in Role Model Council areas.
- A learning and knowledge program for state and local government, and private sector/industry, on the benefits of standardised ePlanning practices and the specific benefits for councils with systems comparable to those selected for the pilot.
- An independent assessment of the success of the pilot and transferability of the results to non-pilot stakeholders as a basis for future funding proposals.
The EHC Project Management Office is tasked with delivering these desired outcomes, as well as obtaining input from the Councils and Certifiers. This project team is overseen by the EHC Steering Committee, which consists of representatives from NSW State Agencies, Local Government and Industry.
