The electronic Development Assessment Interoperability Specification (
eDAIS) has been fully ratified as an Australian Government Standard under the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) by the Cross Jurisdictional Chief Information Officers Committee (CJCIOC).
This is a huge achievement for the eDA/eDAIS community and it reinforces the role of the National eDAIS Coordination Office (NCO) as the certifying authority for eDAIS conformant systems used to process planning approvals.
Certified eDA systems can exchange information with other eDAIS conformant systems anywhere in Australia. This interoperability greatly improves the efficiency of the Development Assessment process by streamlining planning approvals, reducing the overall duration of approval applications and realising significant savings for all parties involved in the process.
eDAIS is a framework for defining the business documents, the business processes and the software components that enable organisations operating in the domain of planning and development assessment (DA) to collaborate and exchange DA information over the Internet. The specification is maintained by the NCO as part of the eDA program of the Development Assessment Forum (DAF).
